Patrick Foye steps down as Port Authority executive director, hired as MTA president

Richard Cotton will replace Foye, a Port Washington resident, beginning Aug. 14


At the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s headquarters at 4 World Trade Center, board members said their goodbyes to Chairman John Degman and Executive Director Patrick Foye who are stepping down.

Degnan has been the chairman of the Port Authority for the last three years.

New Jersey Sen. Bob Gordon got up and thanked Degman for his work on numerous projects with the Port Authority, including the Gateway Tunnel, a planned expansion of the rail line between Newark, New Jersey and New York City.

After being appointed by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, the Port Authority board elected Kevin O'Toole as the new chairman. O'Toole is a former New Jersey senator.

Richard Cotton will replace Patrick Foye as executive director beginning Aug. 14. Foye, from Port Washington will be the new president of the MTA.

O'Toole says he and Cotton will spend the next 30 days getting to know the people and the issues at hand.
