JFK experiences delays; passengers stuck on planes for hours

Port Authority blames flight disruptions on winter storm

QUEENS — There were a lot of unhappy people at JFK Airport Saturday morning, many of whom have spent countless hours there overnight.

“It's totally chaos inside. The people don't bring any information about anything to us. I was in there for about 10 hours. Five hours inside the aircraft and five hours inside the airport. It's terrible," says Juan Osorio.

Most passengers who flew into JFK overnight had a similar experience.

Travelers landed in New York but were trapped inside the airplanes for hours. And once they finally got off, their bags were nowhere to be found.

"I was waiting in the aircraft for about five hours because there was no gate for the plane and then another five hours waiting for luggage," says New York resident Nelson Sobrano.

A spokesperson from Port Authority released a statement saying that this week's winter storm was to blame for the disruptions.
