LIRR riders on Ronkonkoma line can expect service disruptions through January

There will be no train service on weekends, only bus service through the end of the month

HICKSVILLE — Long Island Rail Road riders on the Ronkonkoma line are facing service changes through the end of January, as there will be no train service between Ronkonkoma and Hicksville on weekends, only bus service.

Officials say that passengers will need to board buses between Ronkonkoma and Bethpage and transfer to a train at Hicksville, while those traveling eastbound will have to board a bus at Hicksvile and some trains from Ronkonkoma will be canceled altogether without any bus service. Passengers are being advised to leave as much as 45 extra minutes of travel time for their journeys.

The service changes are due to track work on the Ronkonkoma branch.
