Weather alert: Nor’easter to impact Suffolk with significant snowfall

East End is likely to see higher accumulations

A winter storm warning is in effect for Suffolk County through Tuesday afternoon.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Nassau County.

Accumulations of three to six inches are likely in Suffolk, with isolated higher amounts possible, especially on the East End.

Nassau County will see lower snow accumulation, on the order of one to three inches. In addition to the snow, northeasterly winds will increase to 20 to 30 miles per hour with gusts 40 to 50 miles per hour possible.

Travel will be difficult during the Tuesday morning commute. This will be a heavy wet snow and when combined with the strong winds, downed trees, tree limbs and power lines are possible.
