Winter storm warning issued for Nassau and northern Suffolk starting Tuesday night

LONG ISLAND — A strong nor’easter will bring snow, wind, and rain to the area starting early Wednesday morning. The greatest impacts from the storm are expected to be felt Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night.

A winter storm warning is in effect for Nassau and northern Suffolk counties from Tuesday 10 p.m. through Thursday 4 a.m. Snow accumulations of up to 6 inches or more will be possible coupled with wind gusts of 40 to 50 miles per hour or more. Travel will be very difficult, including during the evening commute on Wednesday. Motorists are urged to be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times. Impacts may also include tree damage, and additional power outages.
