Nassau County police have confirmed that a robbery that took place early Wednesday morning at a 7-Eleven in Westbury is being investigated as part of that ongoing pattern of robberies that have taken place at knifepoint since early march.

Detectives say a dark-skinned man armed with a large kitchen knife entered the store on Powells Lane around 12:30 a.m.

When he approached the counter, police say he demanded that the clerk open the register.

The clerk, who did not want to be interviewed on camera, says he was all alone in the store when the incident took place. He says in the 14 years he has worked for 7-Eleven, this is only the second robbery he has been a part of, with the first taking place about four months ago, and he says that robber had a gun.

Meantime, police believe the man responsible for robbing this 7-Eleven is responsible for at least a dozen other robberies at knifepoint that have taken place across Long Island, but mostly in Nassau.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-244-TIPS.
