6-year-old hailed as hero after saving grandmother's life

Carmine Cordovano is being praised after saving his grandmother when she had a stroke

WAPPINGERS FALLS — Carmine Cardovano, 6, is being hailed as a hero after he saved his grandmother's life when she collapsed after suffering a stroke.

Thanks to Carmine's quick reactions, he managed to help his grandmother to her feet and flag down a passing motorist, asking them to call 9-1-1.

"I guess there's a really short time window for people who have a stroke and if they're not seen right away ... the results could be detrimental to their health. So, if he hadn't been able to get in contact with someone, we don't know what could've happened," Carmine's mother, Mariana Cordovano said.
