Fire breaks out at Scarsdale home, 2 escape flames

Mother and son suffering from smoke inhalation transported to local hospital

Crews were at 10 Oak Way in Scarsdale after containing a large fire in the second-floor bedroom.

A mother and her son were inside the house and suffered smoke inhalation. Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

According to the fire chief, crews made an aggressive interior attack and contained the fire to the second-floor bedroom. The main body of the flames took around 10 to 15 minutes to extinguish.

"It was a good fire but the guys did a really good job getting the line in place,” says Scarsdale Fire Chief Jim Seymour. “You can tell the training we do every day paid off today because they were able to hold it to the room of origin and knock it down quick."

The chief says he doesn't believe the fire to be suspicious. The investigation is ongoing.
