Some Hudson Valley stores extend hours to help families stock up on school supplies

It's time for kids to throw on their backpacks and head back into the classroom

In the last couple of weeks before school starts parents and their children are loading up on supplies to help them prepare for school.

Shopping in stores like Staples where one general manager at the supply giant says tech items are flying off the shelves more than ever these days.

According to Elmsford Staples general manager Tariq Akram, students are looking to have the latest iPad, laptops, and streaming devices.

"A lot of kids are getting this item for dorms and stuff because they are doing a lot of streaming," says Akram.

But always on the back to school shopping list are the basics. Pamela Lamar-Jackson from White Plains is shopping for elementary school aged children.

"Backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, I would like to include a water bottle," says Lamar-Jackson.

Some stores are even extending their hours so parents and their kids can make sure they have everything they need to prepare for their busy school year.
