New York DOT begins repaving project on I-684

Monday drivers who take 684 between North Salem and Southeast will face lane and ramp closures lasting until November

The NY Department of Transportation will begin repaving I-684 on Monday

The project impacts areas between Exits 5 to 8 on both sides of I-684, north of the Route 35 and south of the Hardscrabble Road overpasses. The ramps at Route 116 are also a part of the project.

“As much as I'm going to dread the delays getting to work, I'm going to appreciate when it’s repaved,” says Somers commuter Adrienne Deangelis.

Work is expected on weekdays and will cause one lane on the interstate to close during the day and then two lanes to close overnight at 9 p.m. on the southbound side, and 10 p.m. on the northbound side.

Later in the week, these exit ramps will be closed overnight: The northbound ramp to exit 9W beginning Tuesday, the southbound exit ramp to 9E, and 9W beginning Wednesday.

There will be detours in place for all closures.

Fines are doubled in work zones. Authorities advise drivers to pay attention to speed limit changes.
