On September 9 and 10, the fire house on Columbus Avenue in Valhalla is collecting donations to send to victims of Hurricane Harvey. Fire Commissioner Anthony Ciancio tells FiOS1 News they've received so many donations that they had to move their trucks to another house for now.

"It's a lot of work, but the guys - nobody's complaining. Like I said, if we can't go down to help them, this is our way to do it," Ciancio said.

With the help of the community, the firefighters are collecting clothes, food, water, blankets, towels and pet food to send to those affected by the hurricane in Texas.

Ciancio says that once the collection is through, state lawmakers Terrence Murphy and Margaret Cunzio have pledged to get the provisions to victims in need.
