Overnight construction in Chappaqua creating a headache for neighbors

Noise, traffic and safety have become major concerns

Share

Chappaqua is currently in the process of replacing 175 feet of water mains and reconfiguring the downtown area. But the project's overnight construction has left some residents frustrated.

The construction occurs Monday through thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., and town officials say the plan is for the heavy construction to end in May 2018. But some residents say the noise that is being created is keeping them and their families awake all night, while others are concerned that when freezing temperatures arrive, exposed pipes will be at risk.

Residents also expressed concerns about nails in the road causing flat tires and flaggers doing a poor job of directing traffic.

The entire project is scheduled to be complete by November 2018.
