Former New York Knicks player Charles Oakley has chosen to go to trial in August, on charges he allegedly struck a security guard at Madison Square Garden.

Oakley appeared before a Manhattan judge Friday morning, rejecting a conditional dismissal that would have left him with a clean record after 6 months of good behavior.

Back in February, Oakley sat a few rows away from New York Knicks owner James Dolan against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Security approached him early in the game, causing a confrontation, and he was removed from the building in handcuff. Oakley insists he didn't do anything wrong.
