Group demands Orange County power plant to have operating permit revoked

Activists and lawmakers say permits were illegally obtained by the CPV plant

OSSINING — Officials with the non-profit group Riverkeeper recently submitted a petition to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, asking that the CPV Valley Energy Center project be shut down.

Activists say that the permits for the plants were obtained using bribery, stemming from when Joseph Percoco, a former aide to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, made deals with the power company so his wife, Lisa, could get a consulting position with the power company.

CPV released a statement denying the allegations, saying, "In the course of our work, we make every effort to ensure we adhere to all applicable ethical and legal requirements."
