Between poverty and the middle class, lies a group of seemingly forgotten Americans, caught in the middle.

They work hard but make too much to qualify for assistance, but not enough to save or live the kinds of lives most of us can relate to.

The United Way has identified these Americans, which they have called ALICE families and there are more of these Americans than you might think.

According to the United Way, between 31 to 44 percent of all households are in this precarious position and they live in every town and every community in our state, region, and nation.
