Gap Distribution Center fire in Fishkill was intentionally set, officials say

Gov. Andrew Cuomo spoke to workers at the Gap distribution center in Fishkill, which is holding strong with jobs following the devastating fire this summer.

The company wants to let the public know they’re in business after the late August fire. At that time, there were 1,200 employees while today there are 1,500.

Workers and officials gathered at the center Wednesday to hear Gov. Cuomo proclaim that the Gap is still here and going strong as the kick off to the holiday shopping season approaches. The state came up with funds to finance two pop up facilities at the distribution center in order to keep workers employed and to meet the demands of holiday customers.

Investigators determined that the fire, which heavily damaged the facility, was intentionally set.
