Iona Prep basketball star commits to Stanford

Bryce Wils, the #2-ranked recruit in New York, will be headed to Maples Pavilion in 2018

Not every young basketball player gets a chance to play for the #1-ranked college basketball program in the nation.

Not every young basketball player turns them down either.

But that's just what Iona Prep star Bryce Wills did, deciding against playing basketball in college for the Villanova Wildcats in favor of playing for Stanford University.

"Stanford University was a great fit for me, both on and off the court, in terms of basketball now and life after basketball," Wills said. "There's so much history behind Stanford University. A lot of people that own companies now, and Stanford University just has that ring to it every time you say it."

Wills, the #2 ranked player in New York according to 247sports.com, still has a full season of basketball left at Iona before he'll head out west to California.
