Latimer fires at Astorino after primary victory

Latimer's campaign is claiming that Astorino has been lying about taxes

Share

Democratic nominee for Westchester County Executive, George Latimer, stood with his supporters outside of a house in Eastchester on Wednesday to say that claims by incumbent Rob Astorino that he has not raised property taxes in eight years are false.

According to Latimer, during Astorino's first year in office the tax rate per 1,000 was $3.05 and has risen to $3.27 in 2017.

FiOS1 reached out to Astorino for comment, and his campaign responded by saying:

"November's election will feature a stark contrast: A county executive who has not raised taxes in going on eight straight years, versus an Albany politican who's been massively raising taxes for 30. Rob Astorino is fixing the damage career politicans like Mr. Latimer did to our household budgets. Westchester families simply can't afford the tax hikes George Latimer would bring."
