3 injured, 23 displaced in Croton-on-Hudson apartment fire

Residents say this is the building’s second fire this month


CROTON-ON-HUDSON -- Over 20 families are displaced after a fire ripped through an apartment building in Croton-on-Hudson.

Emergency response units from four surrounding towns were called to help to put out flames that sored through two apartments in the Springvale Apartment Complex Monday evening.

According to the Montrose Fire Chief, three people were hospitalized for minor smoke inhalation.

Yvonee Bynoe says the fire started in the apartment below hers causing her home to cave in. Now, she and 23 families have been displaced for the night.

According to the residents, this is the second fire at this apartment complex this month.

“Sprinklers in the apartments. We need sprinklers; we got a lot of elderly here that I bought a fire blanket just in case,” Terry Delgrosso said.

Fire officials say the cause of the fire is under investigation although it seems accidental.
