3 men stabbed in broad daylight in Yonkers

Yonkers Police Sgt.: Violence was not random, stemmed from a prior dispute

YONKERS – Three men were stabbed outside 714 Yonkers Ave. on Wednesday afternoon. All three victims were sent to the hospital. One stabbed in the chest, the other two in the abdomen and hand. None of the injuries are life-threatening and police have confirmed two of the men have already been released from the hospital.

Yonkers Police Sgt. Jared Singer said the violence was not random, it stemmed from a prior dispute. The names of victims have not been released.

According to Yonkers police, all three men were stabbed in broad daylight just before 4 p.m.

“A lot of people have been getting stabbed nowadays and it’s just not something that our community should be going through. It's not good at all. I hate that people are getting hurt every day, and it makes me upset,” Yonkers resident Kailee De La Cruz said.

Yonkers resident Frankie Matera said he hopes this incident increases the police activity in the area.

“I've been living here for 10 years and I’ve seen time and time again people getting beat up in this parking lot, and it’s just not good. It's not good for the area, for the people. And somebody has to say something about it,” Matera said. “We see a police presence but only on the weekends because of the gentlemen’s club and that bar over there.”

Singer said the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
