ATV driver suffers 'serious injuries' after Route 17 collision

The driver of the ATV is in stable condition, authorities say


SLOATSBURG — Oct. 28, around 7:30 p.m. the driver of an ATV and a Subaru smashed into each other while driving northbound on Route 17, near the Orange County line.

The roadway was closed in both directions while the Ramapo Police Department and New York State Police Crash Reconstruction Team investigated the accident.

Officers say the driver of the ATV, a 51-year-old man suffered serious head injuries and was evacuated to Westchester Medical Center.

The driver of the Subaru, a 30-year-old man, and his 29-year-old passenger were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital for observation.

Authorities say the driver of the ATV is in stable condition, and Route 17 reopened.

The crash is under investigation.
