Executive order: Latimer bans gun show on county-owned property

County legislators consider turning gun show ban into county-wide law

WHITE PLAINS — Westchester County Executive George Latimer delivers on a campaign promise during his first full day in office, issuing an executive order to prevent gun shows on property owned by the county.

“This venue, which was created decades ago and is a tremendous showplace for Westchester County, is a showplace for family entertainment and for family programs and services,” says Latimer.

Thousands attended a gun show at the County Center in 2017, and Latimer says the executive order is not against those who choose to own guns.

Some legislators say they plan on reconsidering turning this gun show ban into a county law.
