Goshen green lights plans to build Legoland New York

Amusement park would be largest Legoland in the US

GOSHEN — Legoland New York is one step closer to getting built after the town planning board held a vote Oct. 19 and approved the plans.

However, some community members are against the million-dollar theme park being built in their town.

"The vote is only the beginning, they do not have permits from the DEC, they do not have permits from the DOT; are we to sit in traffic for years?" says Hudson Valley President of Concerned Citizens Debra Corr.

The town's planning board approved Legoland New York for its site plan and clearing and grading permits after completing a nearly 17-month review process.

If the amusement park is built, it will be the third and largest Legoland theme park in the U.S.

Merlin Entertainments hopes to open the park in 2019.
