High school student in Valhalla arrested after Snapchat bomb video

Authorities found no active threat while searching Valhalla Middle-High School

VALHALLA — One Valhalla Middle-High School student is being charged after school officials discovered an alarming post on her Snapchat, showing a bomb going off above the school. Police searched the building on Monday and found no threat. All of the students arrived at their first class nearly on time.

School officials say they take all threats seriously, whether they're online, over the phone, or — in this case — through social media.

"It's so important for our students to understand too that we're not in an era of joking, that threats are not a joke because they will be taken seriously," said Valhalla Superintendent Karen Geelan.

The school is hosting a meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 7:00 p.m. to talk about student safety and mental health.
