Man who inspired ALS Ice Bucket Challenge dies at 46

Pelham church holds funeral service for Anthony Senerchia on Nov. 29


PELHAM — Hundreds gathered to remember the inspiration for the wildly popular ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

Anthony Senerchia, Jr., 46, is being remembered as a fighter after he died on Nov. 25 after a 14-year long battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

The Ice Bucket Challenge became a viral phenomenon, helping to raise over $200 million for ALS research.

ALS is a disease which affects the nervous system and the body's muscles.

A funeral for Senerchia will be held on Nov. 29 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Pelham Manor.
