New Rochelle HS opens house for parents and advisors skeptical of school safety

School district opens school doors on Feb. 26 at 10 a.m.

NEW ROCHELLE — The New Rochelle school district is taking action after six schools in Long Island backed out of the Model Congress event at New Rochelle High School, after multiple violent incidents in New Rochelle, including the stabbing death of Valaree Schwab at a Dunkin Donuts near campus.

The students of New Rochelle Model Congress executive board released a statement in the New Rochelle school website stating that any parent or advisor hesitant to send their child to the Model Congress may come and tour the high school.

The school district will offer a tour of the high school on Feb. 26, at 10 a.m. for any concerned parent of a student scheduled to attend the Model Congress.
