Pro-life residents in Rockland County protest Planned Parenthood

Jan. 22 marks the 45th anniversary of 'Roe v. Wade' Supreme Court decision

SPRING VALLEY — On the 45th anniversary of the Supreme Court's "Roe v. Wade" decision, the debate over abortion has not stopped. Pro-life residents in Rockland County united in prayer and protest outside the Planned Parenthood in Spring Valley.

“This is the movement of love. There’s no condemnation; there's only prayers. There’s only [prayer] for everyone,” said Piermont resident Richard Bruno. “To save these moms, to change their hearts and their minds, and to take the workers that are working in there, who I think are misguided or misled, and help them to see the truth.”

President Donald Trump became the first president to address the annual March for Life rally remotely on Jan. 19, an anti-abortion gathering-giving hope to the local pro-life movement.

“I was happy to see Mr. Trump speak to the people of Washington on the 19th. It wasn't much news coverage at all on that, but that is something that got coverage and that gives us some hope that perhaps there will be some change,” said Garnerville Deacon John Kelly.

On Jan. 22, 1973, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of abortion.
