ELMSFORD — On Oct. 31 the South County Trailway opened to the public.

The trail spans all the way from Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx to Putnam County.

County Executive Rob Astorino says the project wasn't always an easy one, but now the path spans more than 37 uninterrupted miles from end to end.

"We needed the state, the village of Elmsford, the Town of Greenburgh, and local property owners and everyone had to sign off. And that's complicated, but thankfully we got it done. And now it's open, all 37 miles," says Astorino.
