State airport officials to vote on $30M airport expansion

Board looks at possible rebrand of Stewart International Airport

NEW YORK (AP) — The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is set to vote on a $30 million expansion for Stewart International Airport, located 60 miles north of New York City.

The authority says passenger numbers at the New Windsor-area airport rose more than 60 percent last year, fueled by an increased offering in budget flights to Europe.

The proposed expansion includes a new dedicated arrivals area for international passengers, which the airport currently lacks.

Commissioners of the Port Authority, which owns the airport, will vote on the proposal at a board meeting Thursday at New York City's World Trade Center.

Commissioners will also vote on a proposal to rename the airport.
