Yorktown schools collect donations to help bus driver

Bus driver loses belonging in house fire

YORKTOWN — A donation drive was organized by the Yorktown Central School District Saturday after a bus driver lost her belongings in a house fire.

According to a note sent to parents by the Yorktown Central School District, the bus driver has worked for the district for 30 years.

A bus was parked outside of Yorktown High School, where people were asked to donate different items such as plates, cups, pots, pans, bedding and furniture.

"We’re trying to help her rebuild her life one item at a time. We have received some many generous donations. People have been so supportive," says Yorktown Central School District Superintendent Dr. Ron Hatter.

The bus driver will receive all of the donated items.
