Court appearance of woman accused of driving drunk, crashing into restaurant pushed to July

Police: She hit 2 cars before reversing into the front of the popular dining spot

MAMARONECK — Roseanne Cassano, 79, who was allegedly drunk and drove her car through the front of Enzo’s Restaurant in Mamaroneck last month, was expected in court on Thursday; however, Cassano’s attorney, Jeffrey Chartier, requested an adjournment to push her appearance back to July 12.

On May 10, Cassano pleaded not guilty to driving while intoxicated.

After the crash, which injured nine people, police said Cassano admitted to having two drinks with dinner, but her attorney Jeffrey Chartier claims that doesn't mean she was actually intoxicated. Four of those victims were taken to various area hospitals with critical injuries.

According to village police, Cassano was backing out of her parking space near the restaurant, hit two cars before continuing to reverse through the front of the building.

Almost two months after the incident, the restaurant still remains closed.

According to the agenda for a Mamaroneck Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday, designer Giovanni Orsini will be presenting his application for renovations to the building.

Notes show the proposal is mostly for window and door repairs.

Meanwhile, Cassano remains free after posting $200 bail.
