Gymnastic coach pleads not guilty for sexual conduct against children

Coach indicted for alleged incidents with minors under 13 years of age

NEW CITY — Rockland County gymnastics coach Joseph Lewin was indicted on Tuesday for sexual conduct against children. Lewin went before a Rockland County judge and pleaded not guilty, but the judge made him sign five orders of protection to stay away from children.

"The defendant preyed upon children entrusted to his care and destroyed their innocence to satisfy his own sexual desires," said Rockland County's district attorney.

The eight-count indictment alleges that he sexually abused youth under the age of 13 years between 2007 to 2013. The acts are believed to have occurred at a gym in Suffern and another in Hillburn.
