High school girls lacrosse, played April 16th


The Somers Tuskers (3-1) mounted a sensational 2nd-half comeback to take their first lead with 12 seconds left and beat the Horace Greeley Quakers (1-4) 11-10 at Somers High School in Lincolndale. Lily Ives scored the game's first 2 goals, then netted 2 more to lead Greeley to a 9-4 halftime edge. In the 2nd half, sophomore Megan Dineen scored 3 times as part of a Somers 5-goal run that tied the game, and after Ives got her 5th goal of the match, Emma Kitteredge and Noelle DeMarinis scored with under 30 seconds left to complete the Somers comeback. Dineen finished with 4 goals and 2 assists, DeMarinis had 2 goals and an assist, and Kitteredge had 2 goals. Besides Ives' 5 goals, Bella Arrese had 2 goals for Greeley, with Casey Wachtel adding a goal and 3 assists. Horace Greeley plays at home against Carmel tomorrow, and Somers travels to Lakeland/Panas on Wednesday.
