The Half Hollow Hills East Thunderbirds improve to 9-1 on the season with a 10-4 win over the Mamaroneck Tigers (7-3) in a Lower Hudson Valley vs Long Island boys lacrosse showdown at Half Hollow Hills High School East in Dix Hills, New York. Half Hollow Hills East, who was riding high after defeating defending New York State Class A Champion Ward Melville on Wednesday starting the game very slowly and was down 2-0 to Mamaroneck 10 minutes into the game. However, the Thunderbirds dominated the second half, outscoring Mamaroneck 6-1 and continued their momentum ahead of their big Suffolk Division 1 league game vs Connetquot on Wednesday, April 25.

Half Hollow Hills East was led by Air Force-bound senior Drew Martin, who won 14 of 17 faceoffs on the day and scored 2 goals in the fourth quarter, including a no-look behind the back goal where he was swarmed by 2 defenders. Lehigh-bound senior Mike Monitto also contributed for the Thunderbirds with 2 goals and 2 assists. Mamaroneck was led by senior midfielder Cort Chambers, who tallied 2 goals.

Mamaroneck continued Section 1-A league action on Tuesday, April 24 at home vs Mahopac.
