High school girls lacrosse game


The Somers Tuskers (7-9) conclude the regular season with a 14 to 13 win over the Albertus Magnus Falcons (12-4) on Senior Day at Somers High School in Lincolndale, New York. This game was back and forth throughout with 7 ties and 5 lead changes. Somers had an 8-4 lead late in the first half, but Albertus Magnus would score 5 straight goals in 10 minutes to go ahead. Somers would then go on another run later in the second half and take a 14-12 lead with 3 minutes left. Albertus Magnus' leading scorer and James Madison-bound senior Mairead Durkin would score her 6th goal of the game with 55 seconds left to cut the lead to 14-13, giving her 78 goals and 21 assists on the season. Albertus Magnus would have one last chance in the final seconds of regulation, but a charge call against the attacker caused the turnover and sealed the win for Somers.

Both teams will play in the upcoming Section 1 playoffs starting next week with Somers in Class B and Albertus Magnus in Class D.
