Camp in Spring Valley scrambles to gather funds for summer program

Martin Luther King Multi-Purpose Center thought they were getting $82K from the village, but found out otherwise

SPRING VALLEY — Martin Luther King Multi-Purpose Center in Spring Valley is struggling to gather more funds after they recently learned that they wouldn't be getting all of the money they planned for and say they were promised from the village. The staff says they thought they would receive $82,000 in order to cover 82 campers over the summer. However, they found out on Thursday during a meeting with village leaders that they were instead getting $52,500.

"Members of our community made plans and depended on our service," says the camp's executive director. "Now, we have to figure out how to make this happen in a short amount of time."
