Roswell police officers decide fate of driver who was allegedly speeding with coin flip

Arrested driver: ‘This really was all over nothing, it was a game’

Two Roswell police officers decided whether or not to arrest a woman for speeding based on the result a coin flip, the interaction was caught on body camera footage and has led to controversy.

Kristee Wilson and Courtney Brown pulled over Sarah Webb for allegedly going over 80 miles per hour. The two officers used a coin-flipping phone up to determine if they should arrest Web, which the ultimately did.

However, Brown later admitted to Wilson she didn't have radar to clock how fast Webb was actually going.

“These are the people we're supposed to trust. We're supposed to call them when something's wrong and they put me in a situation that was really wrong,” Webb said. “This really was all over nothing. It was a game.”

Both officers now on administrative leave. Roswell Police Chief Rusty Grant said he was appalled at the situation.

“I was appalled to believe that a police officer would let a flip of a coin be a deciding factor whether or not to issue someone a citation or more importantly to take someone into custody,” Grant said.
