Sailing the high seas in luxury

Yachts that feel like home in the middle of the ocean

MAMARONECK — Michael Beers has been navigating the nautical waters for more than two decades. On this day, he's giving us a tour of what he refers to as "the Porche" of the water world: the 2018 MJM 40-Z. It's one of the most expensive boats docked at McMichaels Yachts in Mamaroneck.

“It's really one of the few boats out there where you can take 10 or 12 friends out for a day of boating. Everyone is comfortable,” he said.

It’s one of several featured vessels in the June issue of Westchester Magazine, its cover story featuring the ultimate boating guide of Westchester.

But if you don't have the $1.5 million to purchase the 40-Z, fear not. The Sea Ray 450 Express Bridge Classic named "Serenity Now" is essentially a home floating on the water. In its salon, there's seating for at least 12 with wood paneling that makes it feel like a living room. It includes two bedrooms and a guest suite with its own bathroom. Then there's the master suite complete with a queen size bedroom and a master bathroom that seems too big for a boat. And with a state-of-the-art navigation system, boaters will never drift away.

The Sea Ray can be yours for just under a $250 million, but the experience is priceless.
