VALHALLA — For children and parents who are unable to leave the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital during the holiday season, Santa Claus was able to spread some holiday cheer their way.

Organized by the Just Making Miracles Yours Foundation, the event was put on in honor of founder Gina Arena’s son, who was a patient at the hospital. Twenty-five hundred gifts were donated from residents all across the Hudson Valley, and the foundation provides assistance to families year-round.

Though patients at the hospital face a number of challenges, hospital officials say events like Santa Claus making a visit brings plenty of smiles and hope. Officials say it’s important to normalize the children’s stay while they are at the hospital, especially with a visit from Santa.
