Residents near Dunkin’ Donuts in Stony Point worry expansion will bring more traffic

Plan calls for more storage and freezer space, relocation of the entrance and parking

STONY POINT — People who live near a Dunkin’ Donuts on Willow Grove Road say if it expands, it will turn the store more into a rest stop, triple in size and bring more traffic to the area.

Luis Felgueris lives next door to the coffee shop. He welcomes the expansion, but is concerned that more people will litter.

"Just worried about the mess, the garbage and everything, ‘cause even now there is a fence here and but still, garbage always ends up on my side of the property,” Felgueris says.

The plan submitted by Dunkin’ Donuts calls for more storage and freezer space, relocation of the entrance and parking to streamline traffic.

Anthony Pellitteri who frequents the Dunkin’ Donuts says getting out of his favorite coffee shop with his car can sometimes be a headache. He says more parking spaces are needed.

"There is a lot of traffic…especially at rush hour with the school buses and everything," Pellitteri says.

FiOS1 News tried to reach out to the owner but he was not available for comment.

An attorney who is representing several of the neighbors says the expansion will change the neighborhood as it is now.

Town Supervisor Jim Monoghan says the area has always been a traffic concern for a while now since a high school sits nearby.

As of now, the coffee shop will stay as is until the planning board votes on the proposal which is slated to happen at the end of the month.
