Rep. Lowey announces $3B increase in Alzheimer's research

Lowey: 'Increased investments in the National Institutes of Health could also yield life-saving cures for cancer, Parkinson's, ALS and more'

WHITE PLAINS — Rep. Nita Lowey announced a $3B increase in federal funding for Alzheimer's research before a seminar at Burke Hospital on Thursday.

Alzheimer's Disease is expected to cost the U.S. economy $277B.

The funds secured by Lowey is an increase of 9% from the last fiscal year, and is the largest increase since 2003.

"Increased investments in the National Institutes of Health could also yield life-saving cures for cancer, Parkinson's, ALS and more," Lowey said.
