New director takes over at Yonkers Raceway

Robert Haughton had been a racing consulting at the track for the last 5 years

YONKERS — Robert Haughton has been announced as the new Director of Racing at Yonkers Raceway. Haughton, who had spent the last five years at the raceway as a Racing Consultant, said that he is ready to get to work and raise the track's profile.

"We got the best of the best," Haughton told FiOS1. "I mean, the Meadowlands is right across the river, and we have better drivers and better horses than them. We are it. We just need to get people to take notice about our racetrack."

Horse racing has been in Yonkers for over a century and has been in the Haughton family for decades. Robert is the son of Hall of Fame racer Billy Haughton and was a driver himself, but changed course after his father's death.

Haughton says that racing is all he's known, and with the new position, he's hoping to take Yonkers Raceway to new heights.
