New Rochelle car dealer reaches settlement with NY Atty. Gen. over fraud scheme

Prosecutors say that nearly 300 customers were scammed with a fake theft protection purchase


Nissan has come to a $298,000 settlement with the New York State Attorney General after a New Rochelle Nissan dealership allegedly scammed nearly 300 customers with a fake theft protection purchase.

"Buying a car is already a major investment for many families," Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said. "tacking on thousands of dollars extra can become a significant financial burden. I am pleased that we are able t return hundreds of thousands of dollars in restitution to the nearly 300 consumers who were scammed and defrauded."

Investigators began looking into Nissan of New Rochelle after the first fraud report was filed in August of 2015. Under the terms of the settlement, Nissan of New Rochelle will refund money to 298 car buyers.
