Opening statements were presented by the prosecution and the defense for the 21-year-old case involving the murder of a 79-year-old Eastchester man and his home health aide.

Jurors will decide if Selwyn Days is guilty in the 1996 killings of Archie Harris and Betty Ramcharan, who were found brutally beaten inside of Harris' home in Eastchester.

Days' mother was a former home healthcare worker of Harris', who filed a sexual abuse case against him in 1996.

The prosecution claims Days killed Harris in a revenge-fueled rage. The millionaire's body was discovered with 22 stab wounds. They argue Ramcharan's killing was not person, but instead a "murder of necessity".

This is the fifth trial for Days after previous convictions were overturned.
