Ossining High School Girls Basketball Coach Dan Ricci has been waiting for this moment for 25 years.

"No one ever thought we'd win this one," he said.

Gold balls, region championships and state titles … Coach Ricci has seen it all. But it wasn't until this season, Ricci checked off Federation Title.

"Definitely an amazing feeling. Something new that we never felt before. At first, didn't really know how to feel but it's sinking in," Garbreilla Ferrao said.

"If you look at all four of our last state championship teams, you wouldn't think this is going to get a Federation Championship. But the ball went our way,” Ricci said. “Kids got better as the year went on and kids got lucky."

Shadeen Samuels, a Seton Hall commit, and her teammates will have another chance to walk down memory lane in mid-April when Max Preps and the National Guard will unveil a banner of their historic season.

"This is really what we put our time in for and he put in a lot of time in for this. All he really wanted was for us to win state and federation and he got that," Samuels said.

"Playing for coach Ricci was a dream. As a younger player, I went to his camp at 10 years old. I never thought I would be part of an amazing team like this,” Ferrao said.
