George Latimer declared winner in race for Westchester executive

Democratic state senator pics up 57 percent of the vote against GOP incumbent Robert Astorino

WHITE PLAINS — Democrats celebrated in Westchester Tuesday night after State Senator George Latimer won in the elections for county executive.

Moments after his opponent, GOP incumbent Robert Astorino conceded, Latimer spoke with FiOS1 News on what his first move will be in office.

“Get some good people. Hire some very good quality people. Put a transition team together and get the best quality diverse group of commissioners I can,” Latimer said.

The Democrats continued their celebrations all evening with wins across the county, including a re-election for Democratic Majority leader Catherine Borgia in the county legislature.

Latimer fans have supported him since day one say they're looking forward to the next four years.
