Raising Our Kids: Westchester Children’s Museum has plenty to offer

Facility is now open year-round and will be expanding to offer triple the exhibits

The Westchester Children's Museum in Rye recently became a year-round attraction and plans to expand in 2017.

The facility, overlooking the Long Island Sound and the Playland boardwalk, recently became a year-round attraction thanks in part to some utility upgrades at the site of the old Playland bathhouses.

Current exhibits include “build your own rollercoaster” with detachable tracks, or kids can jump around a bit on cushy toddler beach.

There’s also a place to create and design with activities in art, technology, and science. And junior inventors can take the wind tunnel design challenge.

An additional 16,000 square feet of space will eventually house three times more exhibits, including a climbing structure, water play, and hands-on, interactive displays.
