A leading international biotech company may soon be expanding in Westchester. Regeneron, which houses its corporate headquarters in Tarrytown, plans on taking 30 acres of vacant land that is located just south of there.

Greenburgh Town Supervisior Paul Feiner says Regeneron plans on doubling its work force here in Tarrytown, creating potentially 5,000 more new jobs, over the course of ten years.

The job positions at the drug maker would include researchers. Feiner says, local businesses could benefit as the new workers would be inclined to shop in town. Besides that, it also means more revenue for the town.

Feiner says, the property is already re-zoned, so there should not be any controversy about the plan.
Plus, there was no public opposition to it.

The environmental studies on the land are already in the works and if approved, building could start next spring.
