Rockland County Executive Ed Day officially signed off on legislation that will prohibit the sale of tobacco products in local pharmacy. This marks the first ever county in the state of New York to sign off on the ban.

A determined young group of Tappan Zee High School students, coupled with the work of local leaders, are to thank for the law.

The passion from their personal ties to the issue empowered them to fight.

Emer Ryan is one of many students who joined Tappan Zee High School's "Reality Check" health club.
They met with local leaders, had discussions with health officials and took their concerns to Albany

The group is still active and is currently planning another trip to Albany to continue the battle against tobacco.
