People from all over the country gathered in Sleepy Hollow to participate in the Annual Sleepy Hollow Sprint Triathlon for a good cause.

The annual summer event includes a half mile swim in the Hudson River, a 10-mile bike ride through Sleepy Hollow and a 3-mile run along the Hudson.

Proceeds from this year's event went to Make-A-Wish Foundation Hudson Valley. Participants said the race is a source of positivity in the community and in their lives.

“Everybody has a great attitude to this race; it really is fun,” said Ray Kelly, the race director.

“I’m really excited; I’m glad it’s for a great cause and it's always such a fun event,” said racer Liz Belanger. “We’ve got a beautiful day today; it’s the best day you could’ve imagined for an event like this.”

“I think it’s great; I think I got one wish done. From what I understand, that’s enough that they can grant one wish,” said Peter Williams of Tarrytown.

Proceeds will help bring joy to local children who have life-threatening illnesses.
